Meet with Academic Advising
All incoming students receive dedicated support for first-quarter course selection from our Academic Advisors in the Office of Academic Advising.
Beginning the week of July 7th, 2025 you’ll have opportunities to participate in virtual group advising sessions and individual meetings with an Academic Advisor. We’re here to ensure you start your journey at DU with confidence and excitement!
In early August, our Academic Advisors will review your Autumn/Fall Quarter schedule. If there are any concerns or adjustments needed, they will reach out to you via your DU email.
At the start of Autumn Quarter in September, you will be assigned an Academic Advisor for in-depth discussions about your academic plan.
New Student Registration for Autumn Quarter 2025 will take place from July 21st - 25th. Our Academic Advisors are excited to meet with you and ensure you’re ready to succeed.

Take the Language Placement Test
- Students who are continuing to study a language they started learning prior to DU take a placement test to determine their starting course level. Transfer students should speak with an Academic Advisor if they have transfer language credit and next steps.
- Some degree programs are exempt from the language requirement which includes the Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) and all Engineering degree programs. Students with these declared degree types do not need to take the proficiency placement test.
